What is OHSAS 18001?

OHSAS 18001 is a British Standard/Assessment Specification for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. It was developed in response to the need for companies to meet their health and safety obligations in an efficient/effective manner. The most recent version is referred to as BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational health and safety management systems – Requirements. OHSAS 18001:2007 will expire on the 12th March 2021. The standard will be replaced by ISO 45001:2018.

What is ISO 45001:2018?

ISO 45001 is an International Standard that specifies requirements for an occupational health and safety (OH&S) management system, with guidance for its use, to enable an organisation to proactively improve its OH&S performance in preventing injury and ill-health. ISO 45001 is intended to be applicable to any organisation regardless of its size, type and nature.
